Combined Experimental and Quantum Chemical Study of Pentagerma[1.1.1]Propellane |

The synthesis, structure, absorption and emission spectra, bonding properties, and redox chemistry of pentagerma[1.1.1]propellane are investigated with respect to fundamental aspects of the bridgehead Ge-Ge interaction. Density-functional theory and complete-active-space self-consistent field calculations shed light on the biradicaloid character of pentagerma[1.1.1]propellane.
